As the demand for high-speed internet continues to grow, multiple service operators are seeking ways to increase bandwidth for their subscribers. To meet this challenge, engineers require cost-effective and efficient innovations. One such solution is deploying a Fiber Distribution Hub (FDH). An FDH allows for the seamless integration of 5G and other technologies, bringing much-needed access closer to the network edge.

What is Fiber Distribution Hubs?

A Fiber Distribution Hub (FDH) is a critical component in fiber optic network infrastructure, serving as the central point for distributing and managing fiber optic cables to multiple subscribers or end-users. The primary purpose of an FDH is to facilitate the connection between the main fiber backbone and the individual fiber optic lines that serve homes, businesses, and other premises. This efficient distribution hub ensures seamless connectivity, high-speed data transmission, and reliable network performance for a wide range of applications.

To be more specific, a Fiber Distribution Hub (FDH) is an outdoor enclosure designed to house and protect fiber optic components such as adapters, pigtails, and splitters and is used to connect optical fibers in the outside network.

We Offer Customization Services for Fiber Distribution Hubs.

Given the diverse application scenarios and varying telecommunications market requirements, we offer customized solutions for Fiber Distribution Hubs (FDH). Our technical team is dedicated to designing FDHs that meet your unique specifications based on the following parameters:

How does a Fiber Distribution Hub operate?
The operation of an FDH follows a structured signal path from network input to subscriber output.
Feeder cables from the central office enter the cabinet through sealed cable ports at the base or side, where they are secured and grounded for electrical safety. The fibers are then routed to splice trays, where each fiber is fusion-spliced to a pigtail — a short fiber pre-terminated with a connector. These pigtails provide the interface between the incoming cable and the internal distribution system.
In PON configurations, the spliced fibers connect to optical splitters, which divide a single optical signal into multiple output paths. Common split ratios include 1:8, 1:16, 1:32, and 1:64, enabling a single feeder fiber to serve multiple subscribers. The splitter outputs are then routed to adapter panels on the distribution side, where distribution cables connect and carry the signal toward end-user locations.
Throughout this process, the FDH maintains proper fiber bend radius control, organized slack storage, and clear physical separation between feeder and distribution sides — ensuring signal integrity and simplifying maintenance operations.
What components can be integrated into your FDH enclosures?
Our FDH cabinets support full component integration, enabling delivery of fully assembled and factory-tested units ready for field deployment. The following components can be pre-installed based on project requirements:
Optical splitters — PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) splitters in 1×4, 1×8, 1×16, 1×32, and 1×64 configurations, available in cassette-style or bare module form factors to suit different installation preferences.
Adapter panels and bulkheads — Pre-loaded with SC, LC, FC, or ST adapters in single-mode (APC/UPC) or multimode variants, configured for front-access patching and testing.
Splice trays — Stackable fusion splice trays with individual fiber management and heat-shrink splice protection, typically rated for 12 or 24 fibers per tray.
Fiber pigtails and patch cords — Pre-terminated pigtails for splicing applications and patch cords for cross-connect configurations, available in various fiber counts and connector types.
Cable management systems — Cable spools for slack storage, routing guides, bend radius protectors, Velcro tie-down points, and cable glands for sealed cable entry.
Grounding and hardware — Integrated grounding bars, cable lugs, and lightning protection components to meet telecom safety standards.
All integrated components undergo factory testing before shipment, including insertion loss verification and visual inspection of all splices and connections.
What enclosure material options are available?
We offer four primary enclosure material options, each selected for specific environmental and application requirements:
Aluminum (5052 grade) — The most widely specified option, offering an excellent balance of light weight, structural strength, and corrosion resistance. Ideal for pole-mount and wall-mount applications, particularly in coastal or high-humidity regions.
Galvanized / cold-rolled steel (CRS) — A cost-effective choice for general-purpose outdoor deployments. Finished with a multi-stage powder coating process for weather resistance and long-term durability. Commonly used for pad-mount cabinets in suburban and urban environments.
Stainless steel (304 / 316 grade) — Premium corrosion-resistant option for harsh environments, including coastal areas with salt spray exposure, industrial zones with chemical atmospheres, and installations requiring maximum service life. 316 grade is available for the most demanding conditions.
Why choose Ningbo Spring as your FDH supplier?
Ningbo Spring delivers a level of manufacturing control and integration capability that sets us apart from standard enclosure suppliers.

End-to-end in-house manufacturing

We own and operate every stage of production — from sheet metal cutting, CNC bending, and welding through powder coating, painting, and final assembly. This vertical integration means we maintain complete quality control and can rapidly accommodate custom modifications without relying on third-party suppliers. Whether you require a modified internal layout, non-standard dimensions, or a custom color finish, our engineering and production teams can implement changes directly.

Fully integrated, ready-to-deploy solutions

We deliver FDH cabinets that arrive on site fully loaded, tested, and installation-ready. Rather than coordinating separate suppliers for enclosures, splitters, adapters, and accessories — and then paying field technicians to assemble everything on location — customers receive a single, fully integrated product from a single source. This approach reduces field labor requirements, minimizes compatibility issues, and accelerates deployment timelines.

Flexible production for projects of all scales

Our production setup is designed to handle both small-batch custom orders and large-volume rollouts with equal efficiency. We support pilot projects with quantities as low as a few units, as well as full-scale deployments requiring hundreds of cabinets. This flexibility, combined with our in-house engineering capability, means we can adapt quickly to evolving project requirements — a benefit that is particularly valuable during network expansion and upgrade cycles.
